Know Roscoe

The Concept

Mine was developed as an app concept for ideation, prototyping, and testing. I was tasked to create an app for a city or town. I decided to design for my hometown, Roscoe, NY. The Know Roscoe app concept represents a one-stop-shop for all things Trout Town USA.

User Scenarios

I developed three different user scenarios to represent different types of users within the audience. These personas were referenced as the different user experience research methods were being developed, prior to them being conducted. They are used as a guiding source throughout the entire research and design process.

Information Architecture

An information architecture was developed to understand the best method of organizing information within the app.

It was important to keep the personas in mind when developing this phase to understand the method of organization that would be easiest for ideal users to move throughout the app. Information was organized into different categories such as About, Entertainment, Shops, Food & Drink, and Lodging.

Wireframes

I developed hand-drawn wireframes for this project. This is something that I have some experience with, but I wanted to further develop my skills. I utilized my drawing pad to develop these designs, and being able to edit things by hand and draw things exactly how I wanted them was a great experience.

Final Design

I developed the design and prototype using Adobe XD.

The app is designed to be an informational guide for visitors or even Roscoe natives. This includes a visitor’s guide, local news & a calendar of events, entertainment opportunities, local shop & restaurant information, and choices for lodging.

Lessons Learned

Although this app is not real, I had a great time researching and designing for it. I learned more about the importance of each step in the user experience research and design process. Each step that you take when working toward a final product should be completed at the highest standard possible, as it lays the groundwork the end result.
